Why Might Now Be the Best Time to Buy?

Normally, the market slows in San Francisco over the summer. People take vacations, spend time with their families, and enjoy the warm weather that usually is found outside city limits. Typically, that trend changes right after Labor Day, when inventory spikes. (In fact, September is usually the single month with the greatest number of new listings.) True to form, September ushered in a large number of new listings. What's different this time is that the buyer demand doesn't seem quite as strong. I don't think this is pointing to a slowdown. Rather, I think some buyers have become fatigued by the competition in the market. As a result, properties are now lingering longer than they have been. This may present opportunities for the savvy buyer. However, this trend will not last long. By Thanksgiving, we start to go into the holidays, and inventory will again dwindle. This means that now through Thanksgiving — may be the best time to buy. If you've been waiting for the moment to strike, now might be your chance. Contact me, and we'll talk about your options.
